A Glance of PUAC 2012
We received feedback from the public that you are not really understanding the race format and what need to be done and not to be done. Due to the responses that we received, here is a glance of PUAC 2012 and we hope that you can understand more about this event.
PUAC 2012 with the theme “Are you fast enough?” is a form of adventure sports race which required the team cooperation. Each team must consist of 2 participants which according to the category contested. The categories for the race are as follows:
1. Men Open
2. Mixed Open
3. University and Media Open
4. Putrajaya Novice
PUAC 2012 is open to all aged 18 and above but for those aged under 18 who interested in participating, they must obtain permission from their parents or guardians respectively. For men open category, each team must consist of two men and for mixed open category, each team must be composed of one male and one female or both female. For university and media open, participants must bring their identification such as matrix card or employee card to proof their identity to be in this category. The Putrajaya novice category is restricted to person who are working or resident in Putrajaya.
PUAC 2012 is a fast race event and the format is like the television program; “Amazing Race” where the first team to cross the finishing line without any penalty will be announced as the winner. PUAC 2012 is created by the physical activities and cycling skills is a key feature for this event because each team need to cycle from one checkpoint to another checkpoint. Various disciplines must be completed by each team and the disciplines involves are cycling, running, kayaking, swimming, hiking and team biathlon. All disciplines must be completed by each participant for each team and where indirectly test the level of cooperation for each team. All team are only allowed to leave the checkpoint after both of them have completed the discipline and there is no individual timing will be recorded.
Each discipline involved is a discipline which always being contested individually but in PUAC 2012, we would like to make it different and we have combine all the disciplines under one event. PUAC 2012 also has introduced team biathlon where each team must be running and cycling throughout the route that we have setup for the discipline. Along the route, participants are allowed to cycling and running without any limitation. This is to ensure the cooperation of all team members are established and they need to help and support each other in order to complete the task.
PUAC 2012 is a first ever adventure race to be held in Putrajaya. PUAC 2012 will be flag-off at Taman Putra Perdana Putrajaya and will go through some checkpoint areas that has been provided. The checkpoint areas involved are the recreational parks that were developed by Putrajaya Corporation and the areas involved are Putrajaya Botanical Garden, Taman Saujana Hijau, Taman Rekreasi Air Wetland dan Kelab Tasik Putrajaya. With collaboration with Putrajaya Corporation, PUAC 2012 indirectly will introduce the recreational parks around Putrajaya to the participants around the country and introduce Putrajaya as the most suitable city for recreational activity.
